Research and What We Can Do for You

We are a unique group here at Black Mountain Research. Our greatest pleasure comes from engaging in research. We’ll tackle anything—well, almost anything. Once we were asked to dye a Bengal tiger black so that he could pass for a panther in a movie. We passed on that one.

But besides different types of inks and marking systems we’ve also worked on epoxy adhesives and fillers, special water-based latex paints, rust-inhibiting cleaning solutions, medical sterilization indicator systems, and soil stabilization chemicals. If you think we can help you, give us a call.

Analytical Services and Testing
We can carry out some basic testing for you on ink products. We can determine surface tension, density, viscosity, and pH and we can give you a general idea of the dyes and pigments present.

Lightfastness
We expose print samples to direct Arizona sunlight. This gives a real-world idea of the ability of an ink to resist eradication by direct sunlight. Some find this more meaningful than exposure to artificial sunlight.
